BENCHMARK By Sgt. Ross M. Mire The Enforcement Agents of Region Nine are proud to recognize the Honorable Judge John E Conery. Judge Conery was first elected as a Sixteenth Judicial District Court Judge in 1995. He has since been elected as District Judge for two more terms. The Sixteenth Judicial District encompasses St. Mary, St. Martin and Iberia Parish. He was born and raised in St. Martinville Louisiana. He graduated from Catholic High School of New Iberia in 1963 where he was a member of the 1962 State Champion Football team. He then attended The University of Southwestern Louisiana where he graduated in 1967 and was a member of the USL football team from 1963 to 1965. In 1970, he graduated with Honors from the Loyola School of Law where he was recognized as the outstanding, st-Lident in the College of Law. Judge Conery is an avid Sportsman who enjoys bird hunting and fishing. He has proven to be strict but fair when handling wildlife violations aswell as boating safety enforcement cases. He has recognized the need for an increased awareness of boating safety. He also values his time spent with his family. He is married to Brooksie Breaux Conery.He has three children, John Jr., Christine and Kelly and two stepchildren, Brent and Dawn. In the past, Judge Conery's lawn has served as an annual campsite for the Boy Scouts of America. Judge Conery is an asset to his community. |
