FISHERMEN CITED FOR GAME FISH
VIOLATIONS
Wildlife agents recently cited four suspects, in unrelated cases, for
allegedly violating laws pertaining to taking or possessing game fish.
Three men were individually cited for taking over the limit of black bass at
Flagon Creek in Rapides Parish, where the limit is 10 fish per person. On July 16, Walter W. Young, 39, of Dry Prong was found to be in possession of
18 bass. On July 20, agents found Jerry C. Miller, 27, of Pineville, in possession of 29 bass. And 14 bass were found when agents stopped Robert E.
Cain, 48, of Pineville.
Jerry G. Norris, 41, of Jena, was cited on July 23, at Little River in Grant
Parish for using wire nets to take undersize catfish and taking game fish illegally. Norris was cited after agents found him to be in possession of
176 undersize catfish, eight crappie, and three bream while he was fishing
with wire nets.
The penalty for taking over the limit of black bass is a fine of up to $350,
jail for up to 60 days, or both, plus court costs. Using wire nets to take
undersize catfish and taking game fish illegally are each punishable by a fine of up to $750, jail for up to 120 days, or both, plus court costs.
Agents participating in the cases were Sgt. Marcus Constance, Senior Agent
Kevin Hill, and Senior Agent Rusty Perry.
