HENDERSON BAY ANGLERS CITED FOR UNDERSIZED BASS

From July 6-11, 10 anglers were cited by Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division agents for taking illegal size black bass from Henderson Bay.  Agents patrolling the bay in St. Martin Parish cited Chris Fletcher, 50, of Baker, Cecil Morvant Jr., 42, of Carencro, Charles Morris, 44, of Duson, Adam Higginbotham, 24, of Opelousas, Samuel Green II, 34, of Arnaudville, Jerry Balentine, 40, of Baton Rouge, and Roosevelt Gordon Jr., 69, Larry Hurst 68, Christopher Overton 38 and Michael Babineaux Jr. 24, all of Lafayette for allegedly taking illegal size black bass.  

The legal size limit for black bass on Henderson Bayou and the Atchafalaya Basin is 14 inches. A total of 24 black bass were seized and released back in the lake.  Taking illegal sized black bass is a Class 2 violation which carries a penalty of up to $350 in fines, jail not more than 60 days, or both, plus court costs. Agents participating in the cases were Sgts. Steven Huval, Mitch Darby, Brad Garon and Senior Agents Brad Guidroz, Chris Carpenter, Brian Theriot and Cliff Ortis.
