President's Message
Hello Friends, Welcome to the spring issue of The Louisiana Game Warden magazine. Just like you, I anxiously await the latest issue of our magazine and enjoy reading it from cover to cover. I will admit as President, part of my anticipation is just knowing that the magazine has met the deadline and has arrived in our mailboxes. I always feel a sigh of relief when the magazine has finally come together and everyone’s hard work is on paper. I have always been a strong advocate of our magazine since its conception in the fall of 1993, and have always felt that it is the best thing to ever happen to our organization. The public should know that The Louisiana Game Warden magazine is unlike most publications in that the articles are rarely written by outside contributors. Our magazine represents the actual experiences, thoughts, wit, heart and soul of the Agents of the Enforcement Division of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Every issue gives the reader an insight into the typical day of a Louisiana Wildlife Enforcement Agent, who we are and what we really accomplish. As you will read, our profession is mostly one of compliance. Each issue has unique stories about the apprehension and arrest of game outlaws, poachers, intoxicated boaters and the like, all who are well deserving of the consequences they receive. However, in each issue we also read about agents who attend public schools, outdoor shows, sportsmen meetings, and boating and hunting education classes all to educate and inform the public. Then, there is the work of good will an agent performs. An agent will often be found assisting a stranded boater, searching for a lost hunter, helping the local community in times of disaster, donating time and funds to charitable causes or perhaps just saving a life. I invite you now to turn the pages of our magazine and read about "our" world. The pride that emits from the agents stories are a testimonial to the dedication and enthusiasm they have for their chosen profession. Sincerely, Lt. Alan Bankston, President L.W.A.A.
