Hook, Line, and Ticket

Region 1

The Weather Channel stated rain was in the forecast today. Usually, on a hard, rainy day most fishermen seek refuge at home. But this day was different for one individual.

Agent Michael Kelley was patrolling near Caney Lake in Webster Parish when he noticed what appeared to be an occupied boat in the middle of the lake. He had his doubts at first sight, for the rain was coming down in buckets and visibility was near zero. Upon closer inspection, he found a lone fisherman, still fishing despite the torrential downpour. Agent Kelley thought this fellow must surely be catching fish, for no one in their right mind would stay out in this weather otherwise. As dark approached, the fisherman proceeded back towards the boat landing were Agent Kelley was waiting. He had a hunch regarding this fisherman’s diligence. Sometimes, a hunch is right...the subject had been enjoying a memorable day of angling until he pulled up to shore. The daily limit on Largemouth Bass is 10 fish. He had brought back 14. All fish were seized and donated. The fisherman was issued a citation and later paid $400.00 in fines at Webster Parish Court.
