AGENTS ASSIST WITH ESCAPE AND RESCUE

During the month of February, wildlife agents assisted the Louisiana State Police in two separate incidents. Agents were called to help in recovering two suspects wanted for flight from an officer which resulted in one escapee fleeing on foot into a wooded area with a large quantity of cocaine. The suspect was taken into custody by Ouachita Parish K-9 officers and Agent Cal Gunter, Agent Jason Mouliere, and Sgt. Lane Kincaid. After chasing the suspect across a cotton field, a brief struggle ensued and he was delivered to the state police. The men were allegedly traveling to North Carolina with a large quantity of cocaine and marijuana.

In the second incident, state police requested wildlife agents to the help rescue a stranded motorist who lost control of his vehicle and submerged his car in a ditch off Interstate 20 near Bayou Lafourche. The motorist was able to climb out of a window and stand on top of his vehicle until officers arrived. Agents were able to use a boat to get to the motorist who had been on top of his vehicle for over an hour. The motorist had been subjected to temperatures in the mid 40’s prior to daylight.

In both incidents, teamwork between agencies led to safe and successful resolutions.
