MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION RECEIVES HUNTING LAND

By Sr. Agent Rusty Perry

The Make A Wish Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to granting wishes to children with life threatening medical conditions, has been donated 1500 acres of hunting lands from 6-C Hunting Club of Winn Parish. The land was donated by club owners Bill Busbice and James Glascow. Labor and materials for the construction of improved roadways, food plots and deer stands have been provided by area businessmen.

The Make A Wish Foundation was founded in 1980 when a little boy named Chris Greicius realized his wish of becoming a police officer for a day. Since that time more than 25,000 volunteers have donated time, money and efforts to the foundation. The foundation has reached more than 97,000 children with special needs.

6-C Hunting Club was established in 2002 and sits upon 55,000 acres of land purchased by Busbice and Glascow from Barrs and Glawson Industries of Macon Georgia. The club rests primarily in Winn Parish with portions also in Lasalle and Caldwell Parishes. The D.M.A.P. club has an "8 point or better" size restriction for personal hunts. Make A Wish hunts are exempt from this rule. The club boasts over 600 acres of year around food plots.

Approximately 25,000 acres of 6-C has been leased to other hunting enthusiasts. Existing property owners adjacent to 6-C have been donated 100 acres of hunting priveledges per land owner.  6-C Hunting Club derives it's name from the six children of Busbice and Glascow.
