TOYS TO RECOVERY

“WHAT A WONDERFUL CAUSE!”

 By Sr. Agent Gene Viator

On Tuesday, April 24, 2001, I had a very heart warming experience.  Sr. Agents Lane Picard, Jerry Stassi, and I were asked to go to Lafayette General Hospital to assist Toys To Recovery representatives Mrs. Barbara Gary and Mrs. Alice Foster in giving out toys to the many ill children who were hospitalized there.

The heart-warming experience was to see the glow in a sick child’s eyes and the smile on their face as we, along with Mrs. Foster, handed each child a toy, a balloon, and a teddy bear.  We visited children from approximately fourteen years old to newborns.  As we left each room, it was wonderful to look back into the room to see a bright-eyed, smiling child with parents and grandparents smiling because of the children’s excitement over the gifts and the visits from the Wildlife Agents and Mrs. Alice Foster.

Toys To Recovery is a wonderful non-profit organization that we donated our Louisiana Wildlife Agents Association money to.  We hope to continue supporting this wonderful cause in the future.
