UNLICENSED CHARTER BOAT GUIDE CITED

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division agents on boat patrol near Empire Canal in Plaquemines Parish issued citations to a charter boat captain and two of his customers for alleged license violations.

Ronald Delaune, 29, of Metairie, was allegedly operating as a charter boat fishing guide service on June 21, aboard the charter vessel Early Bird
without a charter fishing guide license. Delaune was allegedly guiding 10 fishermen who had paid a total of $1100 for the one day trip. Two of the
guided fishermen did not possess a basic or saltwater license to fish in Louisiana waters.

Operating a charter vessel without the charter fishing guide license is punishable by a fine of up to $750, up to 120 days in jail, or both. Angling
without a resident basic fishing license and angling without a resident saltwater fishing license both carry fines of $50 per offense. Seized in connection with the violations were two red drum and four mangrove snapper, which were later donated to charity.

Agents participating in the case were Lt. Robert Martin, and Senior Agents Mike Garrity and Roy Pier.
