VICE–PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Welcome once again to The Louisiana Game Warden magazine.  As we are preparing articles for the magazine and putting things into place, we are in the mid stages of August.  Hot, humid weather, tropical storms and long boating patrols are the theme of the day.  We are looking forward to any hints of cooler weather with the fast approaching dove, alligator and special teal season.

The Louisiana Wildlife Agents Association’s annual conference was held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the end of July.  Captain Ronald Morris, Lt. Len Yokum, and the Agents from Region 7 did a great job hosting this year.  A wonderful time was had by all.  You will see numerous pictures in this issue from all stages of the conference. This year’s guest speakers did a great job of presenting some valuable information to the agents.  We learned in detail about the lasers retirement system and we had a great session on courtroom preparation and presentation.  The meals, hospitality, prizes and entertainment that are a regular part of the conference were phenomenal.  The ladies enjoyed a great tour of historical St.Francisville on Saturday.  Thanks again guys for a job well done.  I would also like to send out a special thanks to all who donated something or another to this year’s conference.  Without the generous support of those special people, our conference wouldn’t be the same.

For more news.  At present, the Association’s Board has made some responsible decisions to ensure the growth and quality of our magazine.  All functions of this magazine will be handled in-house.  Sheryl Bankston, our editor, has taken on some additional responsibilities and is confident that we can produce a fine quality magazine to promote our profession.  I agree and will support Sheryl and her enthusiasm in the upcoming year.  The Association greatly appreciates all who support and contribute to make this magazine what it is today.  It takes effort from everyone to make this project a success, and with continued support, we can grow.  Until next time, thanks for reading our magazine, and thank you for your support.
