VICE-PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Welcome to the Louisiana Game Warden magazine. The end of August has passed and the onset of fall is in the air after a rainy month. Hopefully, cooler weather is the order of the day with the onset of alligator, dove, and the special teal season.

The Louisiana Wildlife Agents Association’s annual conference was held at the Marriott Hotel in Baton Rouge, Louisiana near the end of July. Senior Agent David Henslee, Captain Ronald Morris, Lieutenant Len Yokum and the Agents of Region 7 did a great job in hosting it this year. The guest speakers provided the members with valuable information regarding our retirement system, P.S. Upgrade, DWI and child abuse prosecution. The ladies enjoyed a breakfast and Mary Kay party. New officers were elected by the membership; Darryl Moore, President; Edwin Broussard, Vice-President; Robert Martin, Treasurer; and Remy Broussard, Recording-Secretary. The officers will serve the membership in these positions for the next two years. The meals, hospitality, entertainment, competitive activities and prizes, which are an integral part of the conference, were fantastic. Thanks again, to the hosts for a job well done. A special thanks to all who donated something to this year’s conference!  Our conference would not be the same without your special, generous support.

On a different note, I'd like to thank the membership for putting their confidence in me to serve as their Vice-President. I have some big shoes to fill, because our past Vice-President, Brian Clark did an excellent job in that position. I look forward to the job at hand.

Once again, we have put in motion an L.W.A.A. gun raffle. We have printed only 3,000 tickets. We are raffling off a variety 10 high quality, long guns composed of shotguns and riffles. The tickets are $10 each and the purchaser of a ticket has a chance at all ten guns, even if that person wins the first gun. The drawing is set for December 10, 2002 with all proceeds going to charity. Contact your local wildlife enforcement agent if you would like to purchase a raffle ticket(s). If you attend one of the outdoor shows throughout the state, you may see our L.W.A.A. booth and display. Our members will be manning the booth and they will probably have raffle tickets along with other items to give away or sell. Thank you for your valuable support and for reading this magazine. May God keep all of you and your families safe throughout the hunting season.

 Sergeant Edwin Broussard

Vice-President, L.W.A.A.
