Vice President's Message

Welcome to our summer issue of The Louisiana Game Warden magazine.  At the writing of this article, we are fast approaching the busiest time of the year along the coast.  Shrimp seasons are underway with good results and recreational fishing is at an all time high.  The waterways are full of all types of boaters enjoying different activities, so safety is of great importance.  Accidents ruin good times.

To promote a little safety while boating this summer, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Agents, while out on patrol will once again be handing out T-shirts to children who are caught wearing required flotation devices while boats are underway.  This project will start statewide on Memorial Day.  Each shirt that is handed out will have the message “ I Got Caught Wearing My Life Jacket”.  The T-shirts are very attractive and have a great design with numerous fluorescent colors.  The Louisiana Wildlife Agents Association developed this successful program and its funding comes from the many generous vendors and businesses across the state who support this safety program.  We would like to thank all that support this program so kindly, and I would like to send out a special thanks to David Flattmann, owner of Southern Graphics, who designed this year’s logo.

The Louisiana Wildlife Agents Association is conducting business as usual and many donations have been made to support charities around the state.  I feel it is safe to say that this Association supports some very deserving charities.  Many goals have been set by our Association and many have been met responsibly. At present, we are preparing for our annual conference that will be held in Baton Rouge.  Captain Ronald Morris and Lt. Len Yokum have assured us that this will be a very productive conference with many things on the agenda.

In closing, I would like to take the opportunity to thank our Editor who makes our magazine a success, Sheryl Bankston.  Sheryl works very hard collecting and editing articles, viewing photographs and captions, designing, and most of all putting it all together timely and getting it to press.  Let it be noted that she does a great job. Sheryl has brought some new ideas to our magazine and she has insured us that she will keep this project moving towards the future.  Thanks Sheryl for your patience and all that you do for the success of this magazine.

On behalf of the Louisiana Wildlife Agents Association, we thank all of you who support us.

 Lt. Brian Clark
